Fail du jour: I am pretty sure I just made the ugliest pizza in the world

Photo

I had no idea what I was doing! And I had no idea how BADLY that could turn out. We received a lovely "pizza stone" for Christmas, and it requires that you put it cold into the oven and then slowly heat it to 450 degrees. This produced a lot of smoke from the shmutz still on it from frozen pizzas (you're not supposed to soak it in water). Then when I took it out to put the dough on, the fire alarm went off. Also–I had no idea how I was going to get the dough on. You can't roll it out ON the stone! The stone is sizzling hot! The dough was rolled out on the counter…stuck ON to the counter…how did I imagine this was going to work?? I should have watched a YouTube video.

Basically, I put a blob of dough on. It sizzled. I tried to unwrap/unfold it from its blobness and there were holes everywhere (not the thin-crust pizza I pictured), splashed tomato sauce on (I was trying to work quickly so the alarm didn't go off again), threw on cheese, sundried tomatoes, cooked squash and potatoes (a.k.a. unused miscellany from the fridge) and…left the apartment. I don't yet know if it's edible (did I mention the pizza dough was unused in the fridge for a week?). Le sigh.
